# Tunnels and hospitals in Gaza

The IDF says Hamas placed command posts and tunnels under hospitals, and that this affects whether a hospital can be a military target. The film’s soldiers discuss the map they worked from.

In the IDF’s account, a hospital is protected until an army places a headquarters under it, and Hamas did so. IDF briefings on Shifa and other sites presented tunnels, weapons, and traces of hostages under civilian roofs.

The IDF’s position is that international law does not protect a military bunker because the building above it is a clinic, and that responsibility lies with those who place it there.
